A departure from my typical graphic style and art direction brought me new challenges and surprises.
"Fear of a Silent Planet" was not just a typical rock concert, but also a grunge and heavy metal rock concert. When "Circus Project" contacted me to do the promotion materials for that event, I was skeptical why they would want someone whose style was all colorful and cute to do graphics for a rock concert. They said I did a good job on their art show poster and wanted more work from me.
The guide lines they gave me were: "Dirty, grime, alien invasion, and body parts are ok!" Well, one of the concept I came up with was "the music is so loud that your ears bleed". I did some research on the inner working of an ear. There are many illustrations out there, and I found one that I thought was more visually interesting and redrew it in high resolution format suitable for large scale printing. I turned it vertical, as if the ear channel was a hole for you to drop in.
